Chinese internet giant Alibaba has decided to invest in Turkish e-commerce firm Trendyol, the Turkish company said in a statement on June 28.

Trendyol, one of Turkey’s best known online fashion retailers, has drawn backing from foreign investors and holds a leading position in Turkey’s fragmented e-commerce market.
“With the agreement, Alibaba and Trendyol will work together to increase Trendyol’s growth inTurkey and its surroundings,” Trendyol said in the statement.

Alibaba and Trendyol did not give any further details on the investment’s size and timing.

Τrendyol.com set out in March 2010 with the goal of making the most sought-after brands and designers accessible to everyone. From the day it was founded, it was the first site that offered the products of many Turkish designers to the internet with the mission of leading the fashion in this direction and supporting the Turkish designers in this direction. As of 2011 year-end, TrendyOL.com, which has more than 6.5 million members with a young team of 900 and more than 1000 brands, is delivering tens of thousands of packages every day from its giant operation center.
