Greece's economic sentiment index rose slightly to 98.4 points in November from 98.3 points in October, the Foundation of Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) said on Friday.

IOBE, in its monthly report, attributed this development to a slight deterioration of business expectations in the construction, manufacturing and services sectors, which was counterbalanced by an increase in retail commerce, while consumer confidence remained unchanged in November.

The report stressed that there were no significant changes in economic policy in the month under review and, as a result, economic stabilisation continued, while there were expectations that a third review of the Greek bailout programme will be completed shortly.

Tax and other burdens affecting expectations of citizens and enterprises have been largely discounted. More specifically, business expectations in the manufacturing sector remained positive over production levels in the next few months, while expectations over orders, demand and inventories deteriorated slightly.

In the construction sector, expectations over work programmes deteriorated, particularly in public works contracts, along with employment. In the retail commerce sector, expectations over current sales improved, along with expectations over their short-term development, while inventories were at the normal levels for the season.

In the services sector, positive expectations over the current condition of enterprises weakened, along with expectations over current demand, while expectations over short-term development of demand improved slightly.

Consumer confidence recorded an improvement in the balance of expectations over unemployment and a slightly recovery in expectations over the country's economy.

Estimates over households' economic conditions and savings, however, deteriorated.
