Greek exports increase 6.5% in July

Greek exports grew 6.5 pct in July this year although the country's trade deficit widened by 5.9 pct in the month, rising 19.1 pct in the seven-month period, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Thursday.

 

The statistics service, in a report, said that the value of import-arrivals totaled 3.925 billion euros in July, from 3.693 billion in July 2016, for an increase of 6.3 pct (excluding oil products imports grew 4.4 pct and excluding oil products and ships imports rose 6.7 pct).

The value of export-deliveries totaled 2.411 billion euros in July, from 2.264 billion in July last year, an increase of 6.5 pct (excluding oil products exports gerw 0.5 pct and excluding oil products and ships exports rose 1.1 pct).

The country's trade deficit totaled 1.514 billion euros in July from 1.429 billion in July last year, an increase of 5.9 pct (excluding oil products the trade deficit grew 9.7 pct and excluding oil products and ships the trade deficit grew 14.6 pct).

In the January-July 2017 period, the value of imports totaled 29.767 billion euros, up 17.6 pct from the same period last year (excluding oil products imports grew 11 pct and excluding oil products and ships imports rose 6.6 pct).

The value of exports totaled 16.627 billion euros in the seven-month period, up 16.5 pct from the same period in 2016 (excluding oil products exports grew 6.7 pct and excluding oil products and ships exports rose 7.0 pct).

The country's trade deficit grew 19.1 pct to 13.139 billion euros in the January-July period (excluding oil products it grew 15.7 pct and the excluding oil products and ships rose 6.2 pct).
