ELSTAT reports rise in payroll costs for Q4 2025

Wage costs increased by 8.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to data from ELSTAT, without any adjustments (seasonal or for the number of working days), across the entire economy excluding the primary sector and household activities, compared to the corresponding index in the fourth quarter of 2024.

According to ELSTAT, a 5.2% increase was recorded when comparing the fourth quarter of 2024 with the same period in 2023.

Specifically, the wage cost index, seasonally adjusted but not corrected for the number of working days, rose by 7.9% compared to the corresponding index of the fourth quarter of 2024, versus a 5.8% increase in the same comparison between Q4 2024 and Q4 2023.

Meanwhile, the index adjusted for the number of working days but not seasonally adjusted increased by 8.0% compared to the corresponding index of Q4 2024, versus a 4.9% rise in the equivalent comparison between Q4 2024 and Q4 2023.
