The transaction was finalised following receipt of the required regulatory approvals and fulfilment of the relevant conditions, according to the bank’s announcement. It follows previous disclosures issued on 13 October 2025 and 7 May 2026. With the acquisition of the remaining 80% stake, Eurobank now holds 100% of Eurolife Life, one of the leading life insurance companies in the Greek market.
Strengthening Its Position in the Insurance Sector
The acquisition forms part of Eurobank’s strategy to strengthen its position in the insurance sector, diversify its revenue streams and further expand its bancassurance operations.
In this context, the bank aims to leverage Eurolife Life’s established market presence and distribution network, strengthening the integration of banking services and insurance products. Full ownership of the company creates new opportunities for the further development of the Group’s insurance activities and the expansion of the range of products available to its customers.
ERB Asfalistiki Transaction in Cyprus Remains Pending
Separately, Eurobank announced that the sale of a 45% stake in ERB Asfalistiki Limited, its non-life insurance subsidiary in Cyprus, to entities affiliated with Fairfax is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The transaction, announced on 7 May 2026, remains subject to receipt of the outstanding regulatory approvals and fulfilment of the other closing conditions.
The two transactions reflect the realignment of Eurobank’s and Fairfax’s interests in the insurance sector, with Eurobank securing full ownership of Eurolife Life, while Fairfax is expected to acquire a minority stake in Cyprus-based ERB Asfalistiki.
