Greece launches €500M home renovation scheme, offering grants of up to 95%

  • RE+D Magazine

Online applications for funding have opened for the “Home Renovation” initiative under Greece’s 2021–2027 NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework), initially covering vacant properties. The programme has a total budget of €500 million.

Applications must be submitted through a dedicated online platform by 11 January 2027 at the following address: https://anakainisi.tee.gov.gr/

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs, the initiative aims to renovate and improve the energy efficiency of residential properties through grants for low- and middle-income households, enabling vacant homes to be brought back into use as primary residences, either by their owners or through rental. Applications for occupied properties will open at a later stage.

Grants Cover Up to 95% of Eligible Costs

The grant covers between 70% and 95% of eligible expenditure, up to a maximum of €36,000 per property for renovation and energy-efficiency improvement works. Additional funding of up to €2,500 is available for supporting services, subject to the terms and conditions set out in the programme’s Implementation Guide, which has already been published.

Applicants must obtain an Eligibility Certificate for the property covered by their funding application. Applications are submitted exclusively online and must include an Intervention Plan outlining the proposed works and their associated costs, together with the required declarations and supporting documentation.

Although the assistance of a technical adviser is not mandatory when submitting an application, it is recommended to ensure that the Intervention Plan is properly prepared.

Detailed guidance on the application process and eligible works is available in the programme’s Implementation Guide, published on 20 October on the website of the Special Managing Authority for the Environment and Climate Change Programme 2021–2027 (EYD PEKA): https://peka-program.gr/
