Statement by Eurobank CEO Phokion Karavias

Commenting on the results, Eurobank CEO Phokion Karavias stated:

“With Europe facing a serious energy and inflation crisis with far-reaching political and social consequences, concerns over fiscal deficits and rising public debt are at the forefront of market attention. Against this backdrop, Greece and Cyprus stand out, recording strong primary surpluses of 3.3% and 4% of GDP, respectively, alongside rapidly declining debt levels.

Greece’s debt-to-GDP ratio is declining faster than that of any other EU country, while Cyprus’ debt-to-GDP ratio has fallen to 50%. Bulgaria also benefits from a low public debt-to-GDP ratio of approximately 33%, while the country’s adoption of the euro and the restoration of political stability are further strengthening its economic outlook.

In this environment, Eurobank continues to deliver strong financial performance. The loan portfolio expanded by 10.5% year-on-year and by €3.8 billion during the first nine months of 2026. Deposits increased by 10.6% year-on-year and by €4.7 billion since the beginning of the year, while assets under management grew by €2.1 billion, or 22.3% year-on-year. As a result of this strong performance, return on equity reached 17%, with a significant contribution from international operations, which account for almost half of the Group’s profits.

Our performance in the first nine months of 2026 demonstrates our ability to deliver consistent organic growth and confirms our capacity to meet or exceed our full-year targets. The completion of the acquisition of Eurolife provides additional growth momentum, particularly in the insurance and Wealth Management sectors.

Reflecting the strength of our performance and our prudent capital management, we will distribute an interim dividend of €0.0599 per share on 26 November.”
