The Kineta water supply project represents one of the most significant infrastructure interventions in Western Attica, with a total budget of €17 million for the current phase, aiming to provide the settlement with a permanent and reliable connection to EYDAP’s central water system.
The tendering of the second phase concerns the construction of the internal water distribution network, with secured funding of €10.5 million, in addition to €6.4 million allocated for the initial phase of water transfer.
According to the plan, the tender is expected to be launched within the next month, with the goal of awarding the contract within the year. The project is scheduled for completion by summer 2028, when approximately 5,120 households in Kineta will be connected to the new network.
A third phase is also planned, which will extend the water network to around 2,500 additional properties outside the settlement. According to the Regional Governor, the overall plan envisions investments of up to €30 million, ensuring a total of approximately 7,620 connections to EYDAP’s system.
The “Kineta-Megara Settlement Water Supply” project, with EYDAP S.A. as the beneficiary, is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the “Attica 2021–2027” Regional Program. Its objective is to establish all necessary infrastructure to resolve a longstanding issue affecting the area for decades, impacting some 21,000 permanent residents as well as thousands of seasonal visitors.
The first phase, currently underway, includes the construction of a 15-kilometer water transfer pipeline from Megara to Kineta, as well as a central reservoir with a capacity of 3,000 cubic meters.
The second phase, with a budget of €10.5 million, will focus on the development of the internal water distribution network, including the installation and replacement of approximately 58 kilometers of pipelines, ensuring full operational functionality of the new water system throughout the settlement.
