The Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) and AVAX have announced a collaboration aimed at providing high-quality vocational training and apprenticeship opportunities for young people up to 29 years old, who are at least high school graduates. Participants will be able to choose specialties offered by DYPA’s Vocational Schools (EPAS) in the construction sector, including building projects, heavy machinery operation, electrical and elevator technician work, and thermal and plumbing installations.
Under the memorandum of understanding, key initiatives include:
Opening new classes at DYPA Vocational Schools in Attica for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years, focused on construction-related specialties.
Provision of high-quality apprenticeship positions by AVAX for students in the relevant programs.
Strengthening the connection between education and the labor market through dual training systems.
Implementation of outreach activities, such as Career Days, information sessions, and Open Days.
Joint initiatives to raise awareness among young people about career opportunities in the construction sector.
Provision of mentoring, support, and additional incentives for apprentices.
The collaboration will run until June 30, 2028, and forms part of DYPA’s strategic plan to modernize vocational education and support employment. Students combine on-the-job training in companies with theoretical and practical education at the school. They also receive a stipend, insurance, access to modern facilities, housing and meal allowances, study leave, and deferment of military service.
Gianna Chormova, Director of DYPA, stated:
“Through our collaboration with AVAX, we are strengthening the link between vocational education and the labor market, creating a modern skills development framework aligned with the real needs of the economy. Our goal is to offer meaningful and sustainable employment opportunities for young people through modern learning models, such as apprenticeships, which combine theoretical training with hands-on experience. At the same time, we contribute to the enhancement of technical education and the attractiveness of technical professions, investing in high-demand sectors such as the rapidly growing construction industry.”
Aikaterini Mantzourou, Human Resources Director at AVAX, added:
“We are thrilled to further expand our already close and productive collaboration with DYPA, aiming to attract new talent from Greece and abroad to our group. Today’s memorandum opens the door for even more future skilled technicians to learn from established professionals in the construction sector. Continuous engagement with young professionals is a strategic priority for us at AVAX.”
