Building permits fall by 9.7% in 2025

In December 2025, the issued permits for Private Building Activity nationwide amounted to 2,936 building permits, corresponding to 688,271 m² of floor area and 3,308,282 m³ of volume, representing an increase of 1.8% in the number of permits, an increase of 1.5% in floor area, and an increase of 22.2% in volume compared to the same month in 2024.

The issued permits for Public Building Activity in December 2025 nationwide amounted to 19 building permits, corresponding to 6,834 m² of floor area and 73,185 m³ of volume. The share of Public Building Activity in the total building volume for December 2025 was 2.2%.

Over the last twelve months, from January 2025 to December 2025, the total Building Activity (Private and Public) nationwide, based on issued building permits, amounted to 30,199 building permits, corresponding to 6,574,883 m² of floor area and 31,043,957 m³ of volume. Compared to the same period from January to December 2024, this represents a decrease of 2.6% in the number of permits, a decrease of 9.7% in floor area, and a decrease of 3.0% in volume.

During the same period (January–December 2025), Private Building Activity nationwide recorded a decrease of 2.4% in the number of issued permits, a decrease of 9.4% in floor area, and a decrease of 2.4% in volume compared to the same period in 2024. The share of Public Building Activity in the total building volume for this period was 2.8%.
