This is one of the largest healthcare projects currently underway in the country, with the aim of delivering it to the Greek public in early 2027, ready for immediate operation within the National Health System (ESY). Fully funded through a donation from the Foundation, the project represents the first exclusively pediatric hospital outside Athens and aspires to significantly upgrade the healthcare landscape of Northern Greece, while simultaneously serving as a developmental pillar for the wider Thessaloniki region. The primary objective is the “shell closure” of the main building by June 2026, a milestone critical to adhering to the overall project timeline. At the same time, electromechanical and interior works have commenced, and concrete works are progressing on the second plot, which will host university and academic facilities.
Infrastructure, Access, and Sustainability
Alongside the construction, the Greek public authorities are implementing accompanying infrastructure works, including connections to utility networks, improvements to the road network leading to Filyro, and enhancements to public transportation. The goal is to ensure easy access for patients, staff, and students, with an emphasis on sustainable mobility. The project aims to achieve the highest environmental certification, LEED Platinum, and a near-zero carbon footprint, incorporating modern practices in sustainable construction and operation.
