The seasonally and working-day adjusted General Industrial Production Index for January 2026 recorded an increase of 5.3% compared with the corresponding index of January 2025, compared with a 2.5% increase observed in the corresponding comparison between 2025 and 2024.
Within this period, the largest percentage increase was recorded in the manufacturing of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers, while the largest percentage decrease was observed in the sector of other mining and quarrying.
When comparing January 2026 with January 2025, the greatest percentage increase was recorded in the manufacturing of computers, electronic, and optical products, while the greatest percentage decrease occurred in the extraction of coal and lignite, crude petroleum and natural gas, and support activities for mining.
The 5.3% increase in the General Industrial Production Index, adjusted for the number of working days in January 2026 compared with January 2025, was driven by the following sectoral changes:

- Electricity Supply Index: +22.5%
- Manufacturing Index: +1.1%, mainly due to the performance of the following sub-sectors: manufacturing of computers, electronic, and optical products; production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations; manufacture of machinery and equipment; manufacture of wearing apparel; and manufacturing of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers.
Contributions from decreases:
- Water Supply Index: −3.4%
- Mining and Quarrying Index: −16.2%, primarily due to changes in the sub-sectors of coal and lignite extraction; crude petroleum and natural gas extraction; support activities for mining; and other mining and quarrying activities.

The seasonally adjusted General Industrial Production Index increased by 0.5% in January 2026 compared with December 2025, driven by the following sectoral changes:
