The new unit forms part of the broader investment plan implemented by the Group in the defence industry sector, aiming to create a strong industrial ecosystem linking defence, energy, and metallurgy.
The Executive Chairman of METLEN, Evangelos Mytilineos, underlined that the existence of a strong domestic defence industry is a critical factor for safeguarding national sovereignty, noting that the new investment is not merely an additional production facility, but the creation of an integrated industrial hub with a European orientation.
As he stated, the defence industrial hub of M Technologies is evolving into a fully vertically integrated complex that will exceed 100,000 square metres, with the capacity to participate in and support multiple European defence programmes. He also emphasised the importance of closer cooperation between the Hellenic Armed Forces and the domestic defence industry, so that critical operational needs can be met by high-specification Greek production facilities.
On his part, the Chief Executive Director of METLEN M Technologies, Vasilis Tsiamis, noted that the investment is now moving from the design phase to the implementation phase, highlighting that the company’s facilities have already expanded significantly in recent years.
According to the figures presented, the company’s workforce has increased from approximately 300 to 550 employees, while the strategic target foresees that by 2028 the industrial complex will reach 100,000 sq. m. and employ around 1,000 highly specialised staff.
The new production unit is part of METLEN’s investment programme announced in 2025 to strengthen its presence in the defence equipment sector. Through M Technologies, the Group already participates in international defence value chains, collaborating with leading companies in the industry such as KNDS, Naval Group, TKMS, Raytheon, and Iveco Defence Vehicles.
The investment further strengthens METLEN’s position in the European defence industry at a time when defence spending across Europe is increasing significantly, creating new opportunities for Greek industrial participation in major defence procurement and industrial programmes.
