New rule: rent payments through banks effective 1 October

  • RE+D Magazine

The Ministry of National Economy and Finance announced that an amendment concerning the mandatory payment of rent through a bank account, which would have taken effect from 1 April 2026, is being submitted to Parliament immediately.

Under this amendment, the requirement for citizens to pay rent exclusively through banks will be postponed until the end of September 2026, with the measure now scheduled to take effect on 1 October 2026.

As announced, “the extension is deemed necessary in order to complete the required technical adjustments and to prevent any operational issues” in the implementation of the measure.
