The Alshaya Group has acquired the rights to operate Starbucks stores in Greece and Cyprus, assuming the role of exclusive owner and operator from the Marinopoulos family, which previously managed the business.

According to the announcement, the position of CEO was held by Yiannis Marinopoulos, who is set to return to the family business. The Starbucks network in Greece and Cyprus, which began operations in 2002, currently comprises 30 stores in Greece and 18 in Cyprus, employing approximately 500 people.

The Alshaya Group is among the largest and longest-standing licensed partners of Starbucks globally. Since opening its first store in Kuwait in 1999, it now operates more than 2,000 stores across 13 countries, serving over one million customers daily.

Jacqueline Delpippo, Business Manager of Starbucks Greece & Cyprus within the Alshaya Group, has been appointed as the new head of the business.

In the next phase, Alshaya’s Starbucks network in Greece and Cyprus will focus on enhancing the customer experience, while also exploring opportunities to expand its regional footprint. The new operating entity will be branded “Alshaya Hellas SMSA” in Greece and “Murgab Cyprus Ltd” in Cyprus.
