The contract for the project involving the construction of three grade-separated interchanges in the Skaramagas area and the completion of a section of the Aigaleo Peripheral Avenue will be submitted tomorrow (Wednesday, 1 July) to the Standing Committee on Production and Trade of the Hellenic Parliament by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Dimas.

The meeting represents the final institutional stage prior to the signing of the contract for a project aimed at improving traffic flow in western Attica and strengthening the connection between Aigaleo Peripheral Avenue and the Old Athens–Corinth National Road.

The tender concerns a project budgeted at €51 million, including VAT, while optional works amounting to €9.5 million are also foreseen, with the contractor being the consortium METKA–DOMIKI KRITIS consortium, which emerged as the highest bidder in the relevant tender with a 21.20% discount.

The main scope of the project includes the construction of three grade-separated interchanges in the wider Skaramagas area and the completion of the partially developed section of the Aigaleo Peripheral Avenue up to the Old Athens–Corinth National Road, within the municipalities of Haidari and Aspropyrgos.

The optional works include, among others, additional ramps at the Schisto and Shipyards interchanges, the reconstruction of the existing bridge at the Schisto interchange, the creation of a new partial interchange in Aspropyrgos, as well as a new 2.3-kilometre road connection to the Fyli Business Park, the landfill facility (XYTA), and NATO Avenue.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026 and be completed by the end of 2028. The deadline for the assumption of legal commitments for the sub-projects has been set for 13 April 2027.

The project forms part of the broader plan by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for upgrading Attica’s road network, which also includes the upgrade of the Metamorfosi interchange and the relaunch of the institution of Model Proposals for major infrastructure projects.
