The presentation spotlighted The Ellinikon, recognized as a leading European case study in large-scale urban regeneration. The project transforms a former abandoned site into a modern “15-minute city” ecosystem, emphasizing sustainability, technological innovation, and enhanced quality of life.
The event was attended by Members of the European Parliament, senior officials from the European Commission, and representatives from the business and institutional communities across Europe. In a context where climate adaptation and resilient infrastructure are strategic priorities, The Ellinikon was highlighted as a model of how private investment can generate significant public value.
According to LAMDA Development executives, the project aligns with key European initiatives, including the European Green Deal and the New European Bauhaus, supporting the transition toward sustainable, climate-neutral urban environments.
During the visit, the delegation also held meetings with European officials and representatives of the Greek mission to the EU. Notable meetings included Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Greece’s Permanent Representative to the EU Ioannis Vrailas, and former European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas.
Discussions focused on the potential of sustainable urban development across Europe and the role of large-scale investment projects in enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of cities.
A roundtable with journalists provided an overview of the project’s key features and progress, while the visit concluded with a networking event with the Greek community in Brussels.
LAMDA Development presents The Ellinikon as one of Europe’s largest urban regeneration projects, aiming to set an international benchmark for sustainable urban development and the reimagining of contemporary city living.
