The machine has been out of operation for approximately one month in order to allow specialized experts with expertise in underground construction and TBM systems to complete a technical assessment. Excavation works will resume only after all available data have been evaluated and it has been confirmed that there is no risk to the structures above ground.
According to Elliniko Metro, the findings recorded so far mainly concern masonry elements and plasterwork, with no issues identified in the structural framework of the buildings. At the same time, technical teams from both the contracting authority and the construction consortium continue their inspections in order to determine the exact causes and define the next steps.
The development has raised concerns among local residents, who are requesting full transparency regarding building safety and the potential impacts of the project. For this reason, they have scheduled an intervention at the Athens Municipal Council meeting.
