The total value of domestic private-sector loans managed by Greek loan and credit claims management companies (servicers) and transferred to specialised financial institutions abroad reached €79.65 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2026, according to data from the Bank of Greece.

The portfolio of loans managed by loan and credit claims management companies recorded a marginal increase during the second quarter of 2026.

More specifically, the total value of the loans stood at €79.653 billion, compared with €79.595 billion at the end of the first quarter, representing an increase of approximately €58 million.

The development is reflected in data published by the Bank of Greece on domestic private-sector loans managed by Greek loan and credit claims management companies and transferred to specialised financial institutions abroad.

Increase in Business Loans

The most significant change during the second quarter was recorded in the business loan segment. The nominal value of business loans under management increased to €28.15 billion, from €27.80 billion at the end of the previous quarter.

This represents an increase of approximately €350 million, driven by higher lending to non-financial corporations.

In particular, the nominal value of loans to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased by €350 million, reaching €28.148 billion at the end of June 2026.

Of this portfolio, €9.817 billion relates to loans extended to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The development highlights the significant position that corporate exposures continue to hold within servicers’ managed portfolios, with SMEs accounting for a substantial share of the relevant claims.

Decline in Loans to Self-Employed Professionals

Loans to self-employed professionals, farmers and sole proprietorships followed the opposite trend. The nominal value of these loans decreased by €105 million compared with the previous quarter, reaching €9.988 billion at the end of the second quarter.

Meanwhile, the nominal value of loans to other financial institutions remained essentially unchanged at just €1 million.

Household Loans at €41.5 Billion

The largest portion of the overall portfolio continues to comprise loans to individuals and private non-profit institutions. At the end of the second quarter of 2026, the nominal value of loans under management in this category stood at €41.515 billion, down €187 million from the previous quarter.

Within this portfolio, developments differed between consumer and mortgage loans. Consumer loans under management decreased by €24 million, to €16.218 billion.

The decline was more pronounced in mortgage loans, which fell by €172 million to €24.961 billion. Mortgages therefore remain the largest individual component of loans to households managed by servicers.

Portfolio Breakdown

According to Bank of Greece data, the breakdown of loans under management at the end of the second quarter of 2026 was as follows:

  • Loans to individuals and private non-profit institutions: €41.515 billion
  • Loans to non-financial corporations: €28.148 billion
  • Loans to self-employed professionals, farmers and sole proprietorships: €9.988 billion
  • Loans to other financial institutions: €1 million

The second-quarter figures point to a relatively stable overall portfolio, with the increase in business loans largely offsetting the decline in exposures to individuals and self-employed professionals.

The performance of mortgage loans is particularly noteworthy, as their €172 million decline represented the largest individual decrease among the categories recorded by the Bank of Greece.

At the same time, the €350 million increase in business loans highlights the continued momentum in this segment of the market for claims that have been transferred and are under management by loan and credit claims management companies.
