Konstantinos Kouvaras was one of the most prominent figures in the infrastructure and construction sector, with a long-standing presence both in business activity and in the institutional representation of the industry.
According to the Group’s announcement, his hard work, strategic thinking, and deep expertise in the field made him a benchmark figure for the Greek construction market.
Born in Arta, he graduated from the School of Civil Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1968. In 1986, he was among the founding members of AVAX S.A., and he subsequently served continuously in the management of the company and the Group for nearly four decades. Since 2020, he held the position of Executive Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Beyond his activity in the construction sector, he was the founding Chairman of Volterra S.A. and Chairman of IXION Energy, while also serving on the Boards of Directors of Attiki Odos and Attikes Diadromes since their establishment.
He also made a significant contribution to the institutional representation of technical companies. He served as President of the Association of Greek Contracting Companies of Higher Classes (STEAT) from 2010 to 2013, and previously served three consecutive terms as President of the Association of Greek Contracting Companies of Class H (STEHT), from 1997 to 2005.
The management and employees of the AVAX Group expressed their sincere condolences to his family and relatives, honouring the memory of a man whose name became closely associated with the company’s course and development, as well as with the execution of major infrastructure projects in Greece.
