The hotel is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2027 and will mark the debut of the Spanish luxury brand Gran Meliá in the United Arab Emirates.
Gran Meliá represents the highest and most luxurious tier of Meliá Hotels International’s hospitality portfolio. The group already operates in Dubai through Meliá Desert Palm and ME Dubai, while the new development is set to strengthen its position in the UAE’s luxury hospitality market.
366-Room Hotel in Jumeirah
J1 Hotel is located in the waterfront district of Port de La Mer, in Jumeirah, and will feature a total of 366 rooms and suites. Of these, 40 luxury accommodations will include private swimming pools, while the facilities will combine high-end hospitality services with dining, wellness, leisure and event spaces.
MOMA International has been appointed as the hotel’s lead design consultant, overseeing architecture, interior design and landscape design. The company is also involved in coordinating the multidisciplinary design team and overseeing the implementation of the design during construction.
Project management and commercial responsibilities have been assigned to Carter Hones Associates. The wider consultancy team also includes John R Harris & Partners and SEED Consulting Engineers, while Dutco Construction LLC is the main contractor.
Façade and Interior Works Underway
With the main structural works largely completed, the project is progressing into the next stages of construction. Glazing and curtain wall installation are underway as work continues on completing the building’s external envelope. Interior fit-out works, mechanical and electrical installations, and final construction activities are also progressing.
In the guestroom areas, ceiling installation and finishing works are among the activities advancing as part of the interior fit-out programme.
The development is being delivered in accordance with the Dubai Green Building Code. It will also incorporate a greywater treatment and reuse system designed to reduce water consumption and support more sustainable hotel operations.
