The Group is playing an active role in the development of The Ellinikon, supporting Lamda Developmentās vision of creating a sustainable, technology-driven urban destination. Since July 2023, it has supplied more than 550,000 cubic metres of high-performance, low-carbon ready-mix concrete, covering approximately 70% of the projectās total concrete requirements.
Its contribution extends to some of the most demanding construction projects currently underway at The Ellinikon, including the Integrated Resort Complex (IRC), the Riviera Tower, the Park Rise residential development, the new sports facilities of The Ellinikon Sports Park, and the Centre for People with Disabilities.
The First On-Site Concrete Plant with an EPD
To meet the projectās growing demands, the Group installed an on-site ready-mix concrete production facility with a capacity of 220 cubic metres per hour. According to the company, it is the first concrete production plant worldwide operating within a construction site to hold an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
The facility incorporates full water recycling systems and achieves energy savings of 25%, significantly reducing the environmental footprint of the production process.
Construction Milestones at The Ellinikon
The Groupās presence has been associated with several of the projectās most significant engineering achievements.
At Riviera Tower, Greeceās first āgreenā residential skyscraper, the largest continuous concrete pour ever carried out in the country was completed, involving 7,500 cubic metres of low-carbon ECOPact concrete placed over a period of 40 hours. High-performance DYNAMax concrete solutions were also used to support the buildingās LEED certification requirements.
Similarly, the foundation of the Integrated Resort Complex was constructed using a raft foundation system, requiring 11,500 cubic metres of concrete across two consecutive pouring phases. The Group is also contributing to the undergrounding of Poseidonos Avenue, a 1.5-kilometre infrastructure project that includes one of Europeās most advanced urban tunnels.
Strong Growth in the Concrete Business
The Groupās involvement in The Ellinikon coincides with a period of rapid growth for its ready-mix concrete operations. Over the past five years, concrete sales have nearly tripled, increasing from 600,000 cubic metres in 2021 to 1.76 million cubic metres in 2025.
At the same time, its production network expanded significantly, reaching 45 facilities nationwide, compared with 14 plants five years ago.
In the field of sustainable construction, the Group now offers more than 120 Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) covering its concrete product portfolio. Meanwhile, its ECOPact range, which reduces carbon emissions by up to 30%, now accounts for more than 30% of total concrete sales.
Digitalisation and Green Transport
As part of the construction sectorās digital transformation, the Group has adopted technologies such as Holcim SMARTCast, SMARTFlow and SMARTtherm, enabling contractors to monitor concrete performance and behaviour in real time.
In addition, the first fully electric concrete transport fleet in Greece is operating at The Ellinikon construction site, helping reduce emissions associated with transportation and equipment operation.
Sustainability at the Core
HERACLES Group continues to invest systematically in technologies that reduce the environmental impact of building materials production, making use of industrial by-products, alternative fuels and recycled raw materials.
The company is also integrating circular economy principles through the use of recycled aggregates derived from excavation, construction and demolition waste, reducing both the consumption of natural resources and the volume of waste sent to landfill.
With closed-loop water systems operating across all production facilities and a gradual transition towards renewable energy sources, the Group aims to combine construction growth with climate-neutrality objectives and sustainable economic development.
