The consortium submitted a bid of €241.55 million (excluding VAT), which was 5.5% lower than the tender’s initial budget of approximately €258 million (excluding VAT). At its recent meeting, the Regional Authority approved the first tender report and gave the green light for the procedure to proceed to the next stage.
The new park will provide free access to the sea and will feature 343 hectares of green space, accounting for 75% of its total area. It will include a large number of medium and tall trees, creating a natural Mediterranean landscape designed to offer shade and improve the local microclimate. A wetland area will also be developed, supporting biodiversity on the small islets near the coastline.
The remaining 25% of the park will accommodate mild recreational and cultural uses, such as open-air events, a summer cinema, exhibitions, and sports facilities (5×5 football pitches, fitness areas, swimming pools, etc.). The plan also includes dining areas, children’s activities, themed playgrounds, and educational programs.
The design further предусматри underground parking facilities of approximately 30,930 sq.m., new buildings totaling 3,957 sq.m., auxiliary underground spaces of 865 sq.m., as well as upgrades to existing infrastructure.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. For its operation and maintenance, a partnership with a private operator is envisaged, who will manage and commercially exploit certain uses for a specified period.
The first phase of the project, with an initial budget of €73 million, was implemented by Aktor Group. However, three additional contracts (€6.3 million, €22.5 million, and €8.6 million) were required, bringing the total cost to €110.44 million. This phase primarily involved flood protection works and the undergrounding of Poseidonos Avenue.
