Hilton Athens suspends operations by the beginning of 2022

According to the plan, more than half of the existing 506 rooms and suites of the hotel will be converted into c.126 luxury private residences which will be facilitated by the hotel and will be up for sale.

It is planned to have the space that currently houses the restaurant “Byzantino” been completely transformed and the new six-storey hotel wing that was built before the Athens Olympics (by the architectural offices Al. Tombazi and C. Bougadeli) to be turned into a luxury mall.

Finally, a new private club will be established securing access to branded restaurants and small events and meetings venues, while the gym and wellness areas will be enlarged and upgraded.

It is noteworthy that the hotel’s existing building facilities have not completely utilise the building coefficient, that allows for further development of additional 9,000 sqm.

The Hilton Athens Hotel is one of the largest and most luxurious hotels in Athens. It was built between 1958-1963 and was designed by architects Emmanouil Voureka, Prokopi Vassiliadis, Spyros Staikos and Antonis Georgiadis. With its construction, it marked the country’s entry into the global luxury tourism market.
