Meliá Bilbao Hotel sold for €63 million

The Spanish real estate investment company Nordeste Properties has completed the acquisition of the five-star Meliá Bilbao from Hotei Properties Group for €63 million, equivalent to approximately €300,000 per room.

The hotel is located in the center of Bilbao, northern Spain, on Lehendakari Leizaola Street, in a prime location adjacent to the Euskalduna Palace and within close proximity to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and the Iberdrola Tower, at the cultural and economic heart of the city.

The property operates under a long-term lease agreement with the international hotel group Meliá Hotels International, which has 17 years remaining on the contract. According to the investment company, this was a key factor in the acquisition, providing operational stability and a strong commercial positioning.

The recently renovated hotel features 210 rooms and a full range of facilities, including restaurants, conference areas, and seven event halls (MICE). The building’s architecture is particularly noteworthy, with a design that ensures all rooms offer external views—either of the Bilbao River, the Euskalduna Palace, or the city’s central park.

The property also includes a wellness center with a heated pool, gym, and sauna.
