In the first phase of the programme, 99 agricultural plots, covering a total area of 2,263,413 sq m, are being made available for lease across 11 Regional Units in Greece. These are Rodopi, Thessaloniki, Pella, Serres, Imathia, Kastoria, Preveza, Trikala, Evia, Achaia and Aetolia-Acarnania.
The initiative forms part of HPPC’s strategy to activate and put its agricultural property portfolio to productive use, with the aim of generating economic and social value for local communities.
Who can participate and what are the lease terms?
The programme aims primarily to facilitate access to agricultural land, with a particular focus on young professional farmers, while also enabling existing producers to expand their cultivated areas.
The properties may be leased either in their entirety or in sections, exclusively for agricultural use. The initial lease term is four years, with the option to extend it for a further four years.
Any additional extension may be agreed in writing between the two parties, provided that the tenant has fully complied with the contractual terms and has no overdue debts to HPPC.
Through the programme, the company aims to promote the productive use of public land, support the continuation of agricultural activity and contribute to economic development in Greece’s regions.
Online applications open until 30 November
To implement the initiative, HPPC is launching a new electronic service on its digital application platform, through which interested parties can submit expressions of interest in leasing the available agricultural plots.
Applications must be submitted exclusively online, with the deadline set for 30 November 2026.
Further information on the application process, eligibility requirements and available properties can be found on HPPC’s official website, www.hppc.gr, through the dedicated electronic service for applications to lease agricultural plots.
Linking public property with productive activity
The pilot programme represents another effort to leverage public real estate in a way that addresses the needs of the real economy.
Through the leasing of the 99 agricultural properties, HPPC aims to transform inactive or underutilised land into productive assets, while expanding opportunities for professionals operating in the primary sector.
The programme’s progress will serve as a reference point for the further utilisation of agricultural land within the company’s portfolio, with an emphasis on productive activity and the sustainable development of rural Greece.
