BoG deposits placed by households and non-profit institutions jump €2,698M in December

In December 2021, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €1,832 million, compared with a positive net flow of €538 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 4.3%, from 4.0% in the previous month according to data unveiled by the Bank of Greece.

In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 3.8% from 3.2% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €1,545 million, compared with a positive net flow of €437 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased to 10.1% from 13.1% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €287 million, compared with a positive net flow of €101 million in the previous month. 

The monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was positive by €88 million, compared with a positive net flow of €7 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 2.0% from 1.5% in the previous month. 

The monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €107 million, compared with a negative net flow of €76 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -2.4%, from -2.3% in the previous month.

Meanwhile in December 2021, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €2,698 million, compared with a decrease of €224 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 6.7% from 7.5% in the previous month.
