Four important development projects in the Prefecture of Drama totaling € 16.5 million will be financed in the next period, according to the Deputy Minister of Interior, Stelios Petsas.

Specifically, as Mr. Petsas mentioned, from the city of Drama and Doxato, the Ministry of Interior is financing:

  • The "Urban Revitalization" proposal of the Municipality of Drama (AT06), amounting to 10.4 million euros, for the financing of two infrastructure projects that were, for years, a constant request of the residents of the area.
  • The proposal of the Municipality of Drama (AT04) for the implementation of the waste management project, amounting to 387 euros.
  • The proposal of the Municipality of Doxatos (AT07) amounting to 4.9 million euros, for the demolition of the old school complex and the construction of a new one, which will house the students of the Gymnasium - Lyceum of Kalampaki, as well as
  • The proposal of the Municipality of Doxatos (AT14-1821) amounting to 000 euros, for the promotion of the "steps of the Apostle Paul, in space and time".

The Deputy Minister of Interior initially visited the city of Drama, where he participated a wide meeting at the Counter-Region premises with the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, Christos Metios, the Deputy Regional Governor, Grigorios Papademanos A, the mayor of Paranesti, Anastasios Kayaoglou, the mayor of Kato Nevrokopi, Giannis Kyriakidis, representatives of institutions and the MP of Drama of New Democracy, Costas Blouchos.

The meeting discussion was focused on the development prospects of the region, through the financial programs of the Ministry of Interior - with the "Antonis Tritsis" program at the forefront.

Mr. Petsas made a special reference to the reform of the CAP envisaged for 2022, with the aim - as he noted - to begin, gradually, to reverse the downward trend of recent years, but also to the ambitious plan for the upgrade of land border stations.

An extended meeting followed at the City Hall - under the mayor of Drama, Christodoulos Mamsakos - where the development priorities of the municipal authority were discussed, through the proposals he has submitted for funding to the competent services of the Ministry of Interior.
