PPP projects of € 310 million for 12 courthouses

The construction of seven new and the reconstruction of five existing Courthouses in Central Macedonia, Central Greece and Crete were approved by the Interministerial PPP Committee, which met by teleconference on Thursday.

The projects concern the construction of 7 new and the reconstruction of 5 existing Courthouses.

The projects have a total budget of 310 million euros and concern the construction of seven new and the reconstruction of five existing Courthouses in Central Macedonia, Central Greece and Crete. The announcement of the tender is expected in May 2021 and the contracting Authority for the three projects of Courthouses will be the General Secretariat of Infrastructure.

Specifically, the PPP projects approved are the following:

Central Macedonia


In Central Macedonia, the construction of three new Courthouses in Serres, Edessa and Kilkis is planned, as well as the reconstruction of the Courthouse in Thessaloniki, with a total budget of 120 million euros.

Central Greece

In Central Greece, the construction of two Courthouses in Lamia and Volos is planned, as well as the reconstruction of three existing Courthouses in Larissa, Karditsa and Trikala, with a total budget of 69 million euros.

Crete

In Crete, the construction of the two Courthouses of Heraklion and Chania is proposed, as well as the reconstruction of the Courthouse of Rethymnon, with a total budget of 121 million euros.

The partnership agreement covers a period of 30 years, of which 3 years are estimated to cover the construction period and the next 27 years the operating and maintenance period.

The Interministerial Committee was attended by the Ministers of Finance Christos Staikouras, Development and Investment Adonis Georgiadis, Environment and Energy Konstantinos Skrekas, Justice Konstantinos Tsiaras, Dep. Minister of Finance Theodoros Skylakakis, Dep. Minister of Development and Investment Ioannis Tsakiris, Secretary General of Infrastructure George Karagiannis and Secretary General of Private Investments and PPPs Orestis Kavalakis.
