Following the approval signed by the Governor of Central Greece, Mr. Fanos Spanos, the eligible amount of public expenditure amounts to €500,000 and fully covers the project’s initial budget.
The physical scope of the project αφορά the cleaning of the Mornos River within the jurisdiction of the Regional Unit of Phocis, combined with the rehabilitation of existing technical works that have sustained damage due to intense rainfall events.
It is noted that:
- In areas where significant local accumulations of sediment have formed and dense vegetation, including trees, has developed within the riverbed, dredging and widening of the river channel will be carried out using mechanical equipment.
- Within the riverbed, and where indicated by the competent service, selective tree cutting will be undertaken.
- Where technical structures made of gabions or concrete are partially or fully damaged, full restoration will be carried out using gabions constructed from zinc–aluminium alloy.
“We are taking timely action to ensure that the Mornos River channel is cleaned during the summer months of 2026, by securing the necessary funding at an early stage,” stated the Governor of Central Greece, Mr. Fanos Spanos, adding:
“The expenditure has been budgeted at €500,000 and, in addition to cleaning, dredging and widening of the riverbed, it also provides for the restoration of technical works. Following the project’s inclusion, we are now in a position to proceed with the tendering procedures, to be followed by implementation.”
