Aiming to implement targeted maintenance, repair, and operational enhancement interventions in the institution’s facilities, the Ministry of Education, through a relevant Ministerial Decision issued by Sofia Zacharaki, is proceeding with additional funding for the National Technical University of Athens.

The total amount of €681,551.04 concerns infrastructure interventions at the Zografou Campus and the Patission Complex of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

According to the Ministry, the interventions cover “a broad technical scope, ranging from energy and water systems to electrical installations, elevators, and green infrastructure.”

More specifically, the interventions include:

  • Repair and maintenance of equipment for the operation of Borehole No. 3 at the Zografou Campus – €72,600.92

  • Replacement of insulation on pipes and air ducts of cooling/heating/air conditioning networks on building rooftops – €74,400.00

  • Replacement of medium-voltage panels in substations of the Turbine Building and the Central Squares – €74,160.00

  • Maintenance of green spaces at the Zografou Campus and Patission Complex for a duration of 10 months – €37,042.21

  • Maintenance and repair of elevators, including spare parts and consumables (duration: 7 months) – €161,195.79

  • Ten-month maintenance and fault restoration of power generators at the Zografou Campus – €36,046.80

  • Supply and installation of components to ensure proper operation of the BMS (Building Management System) (duration: 10 months) – €34,543.92

  • General maintenance services and fault restoration of electrical substations (duration: 10 months) – €191,561.40

The funding is part of the 2021–2025 Sectoral Development Programme of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports. As announced by the Ministry, all the aforementioned actions are integrated “within a comprehensive framework of technical support for NTUA’s facilities, ensuring the sustainability of infrastructure, the uninterrupted continuation of academic and research activities, and the safety of students, staff, and visitors.”

“With this decision, the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports reaffirms its commitment to support the real needs of higher education institutions, by actively strengthening their technical equipment and operational capacity,” the Ministry’s announcement concludes.
