The property owned by the AUTH, at 2 Taskou Papageorgiou Street, will operate as a boutique hotel-type short-term rental space.

As announced by the vice-chancellor of Finance, Planning and Development of AUTH, Charalambos Feidas, the long-term procedures for the utilization of yet another asset of AUTH were completed today with the signing of the long-term lease contract against the reconstruction of the specific property.

The building is a Bequest of Thomas Papamichailidis, a civil engineer, which became the property of the AUTH in 1964. It consists of a ground-floor shop, a mezzanine and two floors above the ground floor (consisting of two apartments each) together with a plot of land of 234.16 sq.m., and its appearance has been deemed preserved.

Mr. Fidas emphasized that "the property remained unused due to its age and occupation by third parties for the last 20 years, as a consequence of the non-realization of the purpose set by the testator, namely the granting of scholarships to undergraduate students of the Polytechnic School and the School of Science of AUTH".

"The lease of the property of AUTH in combination with its complete reconstruction worth 470,000 euros, it is another important step, after the utilization of the Mandalidei Mansion, in the realization of the goal set by the A.P.Th. for the full utilization of his property for the benefit of the university and its students, while the building itself will be saved and delivered reconstructed", he added.
