Business turnover up in the second quarter led by Construction sector

For all businesses and economic activities, turnover in the second quarter of 2024 amounted to €119,380,277,000, marking an increase of 5.7% compared to the second quarter of 2023, which had reached €112,896,460,000.

The largest increase in turnover in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the second quarter of 2023 was shown by companies in the Construction sector, by 16.6%, which was milder compared to the first quarter (17.9%), while the largest decrease presented by the businesses of the Electricity, Natural Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning sector by 19.8%.

For all businesses in the economy with an obligation to keep double-entry books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in June amounted to 33,790,880 thousand euros, marking an increase of 2.7% compared to June 2023, which had risen to 32,910,563 thousand euros.

The largest increase in turnover in June 2024 compared to June 2023 was presented by the businesses of the Arts, Entertainment and Recreation sector, by 19.4%, while the largest decrease was presented by the businesses of the Supply of Electricity, Natural Gas, Steam and Air conditioning, by 16.4%.
