The Ministry approved the conduct of a new open public international tender for the assignment of the project, in accordance with the provisions of laws 4413/2016 (Awarding and execution of concession contracts) and 3389/2005 (A' 232).
Soaring construction costs and the complexity of the project have resulted in the ministry's decision to take over the public part of the financing of the project, with its possible inclusion in the Recovery Fund according to market sources familiar with the matter.
The previously abandoned building complex of "CHROPEI", which reaches an area of 17,900 square meters, on 62 Piraeus Avenue, was declassified as a construction site for the "Piraeus Courthouse" and the exclusive use and exploitation of the property was granted to the Hellenic State under the Management of the Ministry of Development and Investments for 49 years, for the creation of the Research and Technology Model Park Innovation Center.
The investment for this large project is estimated to reach €100 million, with the initial planning foreseeing the total cost of construction and operation to be undertaken by the private sector.
It is recalled that during the first phase of the competition, non-binding offers were submitted by "big names" of the domestic construction industry such as the Dimand - Mytileneou joint venture, GEK Terna, Aktor and Intrakat, with the participation of innovation bodies, the Barcelona Technology Park, the Mantis – Foundation, the Patras Science Park and Factory International based in Luxembourg
