Deadline extention for the declarations of cleaning land plots

The declaration statements are being filled through the digital platform supported by the ministry.

The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection announced the extension of the deadline for submission of declarations for the cleaning of their plots until 15.07.2024.

According to the ministry, to date 459,252 citizens have declared on the akatharista.apps.gov.gr platform that they have cleaned their plots. In the last 4 days alone, over 189,500 statements were submitted.

It is reminded that the owners, beneficiaries, usufructuary, lessees or sublessees of land and other uncovered areas located in:

(a) Areas within approved zoning plans,

(b) areas within settlement boundaries without an approved urban plan,

(c) lands located within a radius of 100 m from the limits of the above and

(d) off-plan pitches with buildings, for the lands not subject to the provisions of the forest legislation, they are obliged to clean them every year (from April 1st to 30th) and to maintain them throughout the fire season, i.e. from May 1 to October 31, to prevent the risk of fire or its rapid spread.

In the event of non-compliance by the obligees in fulfilling the cleaning and maintenance obligation throughout the fire protection period, the following shall be imposed or attributed entirely to the obligee(s) by the relevant Municipality:

A fine of €0.5 per square meter, with a minimum amount of €200,

the cost of professional cleaning of the area and removal of materials.

A fine of €1,000 is imposed on debtors who do not submit a declaration.

The submission of a false statement is punishable by a prison sentence of at least two years and a fine of 180 to 360 daily units. The amount of each daily unit cannot vary from €70 to €150.
