The number of unemployed individuals reached 391,263, marking a decrease of 128,525 people compared to April 2024 (24.7%) and a decrease of 26,943 people compared to March 2025 (6.4%).
Among women, the unemployment rate stood at 10.8%, down from 13.6% in April 2024, while among men it was 6.3%, down from 8.5%.
By major age groups, the unemployment rate for the 15-24 age group rose to 20.4% from 24.2% in April last year, and for those aged 25-74 it fell to 7.7% from 10%.
According to the Labor Force Survey by ELSTAT, the number of employed persons reached 4,313,817, an increase of 24,554 people compared to April 2024 (0.6%) and an increase of 28,144 compared to March 2025 (0.7%).
The number of individuals under 75 years old who are not included in the labor force, or “people outside the labor force” (those not working nor seeking employment), reached 3,050,528, reflecting an increase of 77,322 people compared to April 2024 (2.6%) and a decrease of 3,569 people compared to March 2025 (0.1%).
