Greek Economic Sentiment Index increases in the second quarter of 2023

The research is being conducted on a sample of 2,540 Managing Directors and General Managers of large Greek companies.

The general economic climate index (EACE/ICAP CRIF-CEO General Index) in the 2nd quarter of 2023 was 167 units, as recorded by the 3-month survey conducted on a sample of 2,540 CEOs/General Managers of the largest Greek companies by the Company of Supreme of Business Executives (EACE) in collaboration with ICAP CRIF.

The research was carried out in the period 15/6/2023 - 3/7/2023. In the second quarter of 2023 the general index of economic sentiment (EACE/ICAP CRIF-CEO General Index) rose to 167 points compared to 158 in the previous quarter. 

The increase in the index reflects the satisfaction for the completion of the double election contest without additional extensions and the positive assessment of the election result while improving expectations for the next period. The analysis of the results by size category shows an increase in the index in all sizes of companies, but mainly in the very large ones businesses.

The current economic status index (EASE-CEO Current status Index) showed an increase to 160 points, while the expectation index (EASE-CEO Expectation Index) increased to 175 points compared to 162 in the previous quarter.

The country's current economic situation index showed a remarkable rise to 237 points compared to 205 in the previous quarter. The percentage of CEOs who say the country's current economic situation has improved compared to 1 year ago increased to 54% compared to 37% in the previous quarter. At the same time, the percentage of CEOs who state that the current economic situation of the country decreased to 9% compared to 24% in the previous quarter. The forecast index of the country's economic situation a year later showed an increase to 223 points compared to 191 points in the previous quarter.
