Greek unemployment rate in January 2025 stood at 8.7%

Compared to the upwardly revised rate of 11.7% in January 2024 and the 9.3% in December 2024.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in January 2025 stood at 8.7%, compared to the upwardly revised rate of 11.7% in January 2024 and the downwardly revised rate of 9.3% in December 2024.

According to ELSTAT, the number of employed individuals reached 4,288,284, marking an increase of 61,559 compared to January 2024 (1.5%) and 8,794 compared to December 2024 (0.2%).

The number of unemployed individuals stood at 408,181, reflecting a decrease of 149,257 compared to January 2024 (-26.8%) and 28,830 compared to December 2024 (-6.6%).

The number of individuals under 75 years of age who are not part of the labor force, or "individuals outside the labor force"—those who are neither employed nor actively seeking work—reached 3,066,282. This represents an increase of 59,740 compared to January 2024 (2.0%) and 17,952 compared to December 2024 (0.6%).
