According to ELSTAT the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in September 2022 amounted to 11.8% compared to the upwards revised 13.3% in September 2021 and to the downwards revised 12.1% in August 2022.
The number of employed persons amounted to 4,149,663 persons increasing by 83,545 persons as compared with September 2021 (+2.1%) and by 43,487 persons compared with August 2022 (+1.1%).
The number of unemployed persons amounted to 556,324 decreasing by 65,121 persons as compared with September 2021 (-10.5%) and by 8,449 persons compared with August 2022 (-1.5%).
The number of persons outside the labour force, i.e., persons under the age of 75, that neither work nor look
for a job, amounted to 3,117,564, decreasing by 51,891 persons as compared with September 2021 (-1.6%)
and by 37,647 persons compared with August 2022 (-1.2%).
