A major project benefiting the citizens of Agios Dimitrios, Attica, is entering the implementation phase, with HEDNO progressing on the preliminary planning of the new electricity Distribution Center.

The project, with a total budget of approximately €31 million, is set to transform the area, significantly enhancing the quality of life and daily experience of local residents. The new Distribution Center will replace the existing outdoor facilities, accompanied by a comprehensive redevelopment aimed at upgrading the space with high aesthetic standards.

Upon completion of the new center, all existing outdoor installations will be removed, and a green hub will be created within the urban landscape.

The project will also meet the energy needs of the municipality and surrounding areas, improving the reliability of the Distribution Network while providing enhanced services to citizens.

HEDNO’s (Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator) modern urban Distribution Centers across Greece operate under strict safety protocols, employ advanced automation technologies, and contribute to the energy efficiency, economic value, and aesthetic quality of the areas in which they are installed.

It is important to note that Distribution Centers house equipment exclusively indoors, which steps down high-voltage electricity to medium voltage before distributing it to the surrounding area via an underground network.

In discussing the project, HEDNO CEO Mr. Anastasios Manos met with Mayor Stelios Mamalakis, stating: “HEDNO is committed to modernizing and upgrading the nationwide electricity distribution network, with the goal of delivering enhanced services to all citizens. Projects like this bring us closer to achieving that goal.”

Mayor Mamalakis added: “The upgrade of the substation is a crucial project that significantly improves safety, public health, and the overall quality of life for our city’s residents.”
