According to data from the Bank of Greece, at the same time, business deposits decreased by €1,145 million in April 2025, compared to an increase of €2,563 million in the previous month, and the annual growth rate declined to 9.3% from 11.9% the previous month.
Specifically, deposits of non-financial corporations (NFCs) decreased by €1,161 million, compared to an increase of €2,436 million the previous month. Deposits of insurance companies and other financial institutions increased by €16 million, compared to an increase of €127 million the previous month.
Overall, private sector deposits fell by €795 million in April 2025, compared to an increase of €2.405 billion in the previous month, while the annual growth rate declined to 4.2% from 4.8%. Additionally, deposits of the general government decreased by €302 million in April 2025, compared to a decrease of €1.046 billion the previous month, and the annual growth rate fell to 11.8% from 12.1% the previous month.
Regarding loans, the monthly net flow of total financing to the private sector was negative by €98 million, compared to a positive net flow of €1.952 billion the previous month. However, the annual growth rate of total private sector financing increased to 10.9% from 10.3%.
More specifically, the monthly net flow of financing to businesses was negative by €94 million in April 2025, compared to a positive net flow of €1.867 billion the previous month, while the annual growth rate rose to 17.0% from 16.0%. In particular, the annual growth rate of financing to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 17.2% from 16.8% the previous month. Their monthly net flow of financing was negative by €92 million, compared to a positive net flow of €1.938 billion the previous month.
The annual growth rate of financing to insurance companies and other financial institutions increased to 15.5% from 10.0% the previous month. Their monthly net flow of financing was negative by €2 million, compared to a negative net flow of €71 million the previous month.
The monthly net flow of financing to households and private non-profit institutions was positive by €30 million in April 2025, compared to a positive net flow of €52 million the previous month. The annual growth rate of their financing stood at -0.3%, compared to -0.5% the previous month.
