As part of its strategic plan to enhance functionality, energy efficiency, and the quality of services provided to athletes of all ages, the Athens Olympic Sports Complex “Spyros Louis” (O.A.K.A.) has carried out yet another important intervention aimed at modernizing and upgrading its facilities.

With the aim of creating a modern, safe, and athlete-friendly training environment, the upgrade of the sports lighting systems at the auxiliary fields K1 and K2 of the Olympic Training Center has been successfully completed. This intervention combines technological innovation with environmental responsibility.

The installation of new high-performance LED lighting fixtures marks another step toward the sustainable development of OAKA’s infrastructure, significantly enhancing the daily experience of athletes and providing optimal conditions for both emerging talent and professional sportspeople in Greece.

Details of the Upgrade:

The upgrade of the sports lighting at auxiliary fields K1 and K2 of the OAKA Olympic Training Center has been completed.

The works included the replacement and full upgrade of the lighting systems at fields K1 and K2, through the installation of state-of-the-art, energy-efficient LED luminaires.

The new lighting systems offer the following advantages:

  • Improved lighting quality, with enhanced brightness levels and uniform light distribution across the playing surface.

  • Precisely targeted light beams, based on a specialized photometric study, eliminating shadows and dark zones to ensure ideal conditions for both training and competition.

  • Up to 60% reduction in energy consumption, contributing not only to the environmental sustainability of the facilities but also to a reduced carbon footprint.

  • Smart lighting control systems, allowing adjustable light intensity depending on the space usage and the needs of each sporting activity.

This upgrade is part of OAKA’s broader plan for the energy and operational renewal of its facilities, aiming to improve conditions for the athletes who train daily at these Olympic-standard venues.

With the new lighting technology, fields K1 and K2 now offer a modern, safe, and energy-efficient environment, worthy of the level of athletes who use them.

The lighting upgrade project, with a total cost of €484,854.88, was funded through OAKA’s regular budget.

We wish all athletes the best with their training under the new lights — may they bring inspiration, performance, and success!

Good luck to all the young and seasoned athletes of OAKA!
