The Overall Industrial Production Index in June 2024 recorded an increase of 9.5% compared with June 2023.

According to ELSTAT, the Overall IPI in June 2023 decreased by 3.0% compared with the corresponding index in June 2022. 

The average Overall Industrial Production Index for the period from January to June 2024 recorded an increase of 6.4% compared with the average IPI of the period from January to June 2023. 

The seasonally adjusted Overall Industrial Production Index in June 2024 recorded an increase of 1.4% compared with the corresponding index of May 2024. 

The index of leather and related products division showed the greatest percentage increase, whereas the index of mining of metal ores division recorded the greatest percentage decrease in June 2024 compared with May 2024. 

Comparing the indices of June 2024 with the corresponding indices of June 2023, the greatest percentage increase was recorded in coke and refined petroleum products division, while the highest percentage decrease was recorded in mining of coal and lignite – extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas – mining support service activities divisions.

The 9.5% increase of the working day adjusted Overall IPI in June 2024, compared with the corresponding index in June 2023, is due to the annual changes of the sub-indices in the following industrial sections: 

Increase of:

  • 30.5% in the Electricity Supply Index. 
  • 8.9% in the Water Supply Index. 
  • 5.2% in the Manufacturing Index. 
The increase was mainly the result of the annual changes of the sub-indices in the following 2-digit divisions: coke and refined petroleum products, repair and installation of machinery and equipment, leather and related products, chemicals and chemical products, other non-metallic mineral products. 

Decrease of:

  • 6.6% in the Mining and Quarrying Index. The decrease was the result of the annual changes of the sub-indices in the following 2-digit divisions: mining of coal and lignite – extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas – mining support service activities, mining of metal ores.
