More specifically:
The Total Building Activity (private-public) in Greece, in May 2024 which is calculated on the basis of the number of issued building permits, amounted to 2,065. This figure corresponds to 461,144 m2 of surface and 2,246,001 m3 of volume, reflecting, respectively, a 19.6% decrease in the number of building permits, a 6.7% decrease in surface and a 3.4% increase in volume, compared with the corresponding month of 2023.
The building permits for the Private Building Activity issued in Greece in May 2024 amounted to 2,055. This figure corresponds to 457,423 m2 of surface and 2,225,886 m3 of volume. In comparison with the same month of 2023 there is a 19.5% decrease in the number of building permits, a 6.8% decrease in surface and a 3.8% increase in volume.
The building permits for the Public Building Activity issued in Greece in May 2024 amounted to 10. This figure corresponds to 3,721 m2 of surface and 20,115 m3 of volume. Public Building Activity accounted for a 0.9% of the total building volume in May 2024.
In the last twelve months, from June 2023 until May 2024, Total Building Activity (private-public) in Greece, calculated on the basis of the number of issued building permits, amounted to 29,815. This figure corresponds to 6,920,543 m2 of surface and 31,450,808 m3 of volume. In comparison with the corresponding period from June 2022 until May 2023, there is a 13.5% increase in the number of building permits, a 17.6% increase in surface and a 19.2% increase in volume.
In the same period, from June 2023 untill May 2024, Private Building Activity in Greece recorded a 13.6% increase in the number of issued building permits, a 17.7% increase in surface and a 19.2% increase in volume, compared with the corresponding period from June 2022 to May 2023 (Table 4). During the same period, Public Building Activity accounted for a 2.3% of the total building volume.
During the period January - May 2024, Total Building Activity (private-public) in Greece recorded a 26.8% increase in the number of issued building permits, a 28.9% increase in surface and a 21.6% increase in volume, compared with the corresponding period of 2023 (Table 5). During the same period, January - May 2024, Private Building Activity in Greece recorded a 26.9% increase in the number of issued building permits, a 30.2% increase in surface and a 22.0% increase in volume, in comparison with the period January - May 2023.
