Mixed performance in Q3 2025: accommodation +3.2%, food & beverage –1.7%

The turnover in the Accommodation and Food & Beverage sectors showed a mixed picture in the third quarter of 2025, according to the latest data for businesses classified under NACE Rev. 2 sectors 55 and 56.

The Accommodation sector recorded a 3.2% increase, with total turnover reaching €6.60 billion, compared to €6.40 billion in the corresponding quarter of 2024. Conversely, the Food & Beverage sector experienced a decline, with turnover amounting to €3.98 billion, down 1.7% year-on-year.

In the Regional Units contributing more than 1% to the annual turnover in 2024, the largest changes were as follows:

Accommodation (Sector 55)

  • Highest increase: Thessaloniki Regional Unit, +8.3%

  • Lowest increase: Kefalonia Regional Unit, +1.3%

  • Largest decrease: Thira (Santorini) Regional Unit, –14.7%

Food & Beverage (Sector 56)

  • Largest decrease: Thira (Santorini) Regional Unit, –13.3%

  • Smallest decrease: Attica and Paros Regional Units, –1.2%

  • Highest increase: Corfu Regional Unit, +4.8%

The differentiated performance across regions and sectors reflects the varying tourist flows during the summer, with significant disparities between popular destinations, such as Thira, and areas with growing momentum, such as Thessaloniki and Corfu.
