By decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis, following cooperation with the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, the project "Replacement and Expansion of Equipment for the Data Centers of the National Infrastructure and Research Network (EDYTE)" is included in the Recovery and Resilience Fund, with a budget of €67,842,904.

The goal of the project is to complete investments aimed at upgrading the internet infrastructure of the National Infrastructure of Digital Services (ΕΔΥΤΕ) at more than 100 locations across the country. This will enable speeds of 100-400 Gbps, as opposed to the current 1-10 Gbps. Additionally, the project will involve the renewal of the computational and storage infrastructure of ΕΔΥΤΕ’s data centers, which includes the procurement of 40,000-60,000 processor cores and 10-15 PB of total storage capacity.

The completion of these investments, along with those included in the strategic program of ΕΔΥΤΕ, is expected to significantly contribute to the modernization of its infrastructure and capabilities, as well as the reliability and resilience of its network. Furthermore, it will address the challenges and demands of the modern global digital infrastructure environment, supporting a wide range of applications from cybersecurity to everyday activities and transactions.

The Ministry of Digital Governance is the funding body and the responsible authority overseeing this initiative.
