New residential building construction costs rise in third quarter 2025

The Price Index of Work Categories in Construction of New Residential Buildings in the 3 rd quarter 2025 compared with the 3 rd quarter 2024 recorded an increase of 2.1%. The previous year the corresponding index had recorded an increase of 2.9%.

According to data unveiled by ELSTAT, the Price Index of Work Categories in the 3 rd quarter 2025 compared with the 2 nd quarter 2025 recorded an increase of 0.5%. The previous year the corresponding index had recorded an increase of 0.7%. The twelve-month average index, from October 2024 to September 2025, compared with the corresponding index from October 2023 to September 2024, recorded an increase of 2.5%. The corresponding previous twelve-month periods, the average index had recorded an increase of 2.9%. 

The Price Index of Construction Cost of New Residential Buildings in the 3 rd quarter 2025 compared with the 3 rd quarter 2024 recorded an increase of 2.5%. The previous year the corresponding index had recorded an increase of 3.6%. More specifically, the annual increase of 2.5% is due to the 2.6% increase in the Material Cost Index as well as to the 2.3% increase in the Labour Cost Index. 

The Price Index of Construction Cost in the 3 rd quarter 2025 compared with the 2 nd quarter 2025 recorded an increase of 0.7%. The previous year the corresponding index had recorded an increase of 1.0%. More specifically, the quarterly increase of 0.7% is on account of the 0.6% increase in the Material Cost Index as well as of the 0.7% increase in the Labour Cost Index. 

The twelve-month average index, from October 2024 to September 2025, compared with the corresponding index from October 2023 to September 2024, increased by 3.1%. The corresponding previous twelve-month periods, the average index had increased by 4.0%
