The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced the results of the Survey on Museums and Archaeological Sites Attendance for December 2021.

In December 2021 Museums operated fully, whereas during December 2020 they remained closed, given the fact that in the framework of the preventative measures against the Covid-19 pandemic, the operation of the museums was gradually suspended from November 1st 2020 until May 13th 2021.

During the twelve month period from January to December 2021, compared to the corresponding period of 2020, an increase of 86.0% was observed in the number of visitors of Museums and an increase of 52.9% was recorded in the number of free admission visitors, while an 156.6% increase was observed in the relevant receipts, given the suspension of operation of Museums, from March 14th until June 16th 2020 and again gradually from November 1st 2020 until May 13th 2021, in the framework of the preventative measures against the Covid-19 pandemic.
