Official approval secures hydrocarbon research in four maritime regions of the country.

Specifically, four Ministerial Decisions were signed by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, concerning the selection of applicants in the international tender for the granting of exploration and exploitation rights for hydrocarbons in the maritime areas south of the Peloponnese (areas “A2” and “South of the Peloponnese”) and in the maritime areas south of Crete (areas “South of Crete 1” and “South of Crete 2”).

According to these decisions, the selected applicants (preferred investors) are the joint ventures of the Chevron and Helleniq Energy groups.

Simultaneously, the Evaluation Committee, established by a decision of Hellenic Hydrocarbon Resources Management (HHRM), has been tasked with inviting these joint ventures as Selected Applicants for the aforementioned maritime areas, in order to finalize the draft contract for signature, in accordance with the tender notice.
