The €40 million budget project concerns the construction through PPP of seven schools and the expansion of one, namely:
- Akrotiri 2nd High School
- 4th Chania High School in Livadia,
- 3rd Kindergarten of Nea Kydonia and 2nd Kindergarten of Vamvakopoulos
- 2nd Primary School of Nea Kydonia in Parigoria,
- 18th Primary School of Chania and 22nd Kindergarten of Chania,
- Horafakia Primary School
- 1st Kindergarten of Perivolion (co-located with the Primary School, which is also planned to be expanded)
- 23-38th Kindergarten of Chania
- The contract provides for two years for the construction and for 25 years for the maintenance, cleaning, and safekeeping of the school complexes which must then be delivered in excellent condition to the Municipality of Chania.
A total of four companies had initially expressed interest in the tender: AKTOR Concessions, AVAX, METLEN and ATESE
The contract is refering also to the study, financing, reconstruction and technical management - operation and regeneration, technological upgrading of the "Park of Peace and Friendship of the Peoples" of the Municipality of Chania, as well as its consolidation, in the sense of the construction of access and interconnection with the Municipal Garden of Chania.
